Tellington TTouch Animal Behaviour
Don’t click back, you are in the right place.
I’m an illustrator that’s also a fully qualified Tellington TTouch practitioner.
I visit animals as-and-when because I love doing TTouch and helping you help the animals.

Make undesirable behaviour history
using kindness and communication
Using the Tellington TTouch method I address issues and behaviors with ANY distressed or problematic animal, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, rats, ferrets, parrots, owls, snakes, etc, etc. Typical issues addressed are: fear of loud noises, pulling on the lead, chewing, barking, temperament, relief of tension & stress, socialization, arthritis, helping concentration, seizures, timidity, shock, introducing pets to the home, fearfulness & aggression – to name but a few.

A Positive Influence
Although this list is extensive it is by no means conclusive. Dislike of contact: Fear of the vet, Grooming Issues, Handling Issues, Reluctance to be petted, Body defensiveness due to injury, Hand shyness, Aggression. Lack of balance: Pulling on lead, Uncoordinated walking, Training difficulties, Poor performance, leaning, Gait irregularities. Hyperactivity: Jumping up, Excessive chewing, Boisterousness, Spinning, Lack of concentration, Excessive vocalising. Noise sensitivity: Fear of loud/high noises, Fear of thunder and fireworks. Nervous/Fearful: Fear biting & aggression, Timidity, Lack of confidence, Reluctance to socialise, Separation anxiety. Also… Temperament, General relief of tension & stress, Arthritis, Seizures, Shock, Introducing a new dog to the home, Travel Sickness.
What is TTouch?
The Tellington TTouch or TTouch is an holistic teaching method for any animal, offering positive solutions to common behavioural and health related problems. Unlike more traditional training methods that enforce and dominate, I use communication and kindness to bring about new responses, which is why it literally works with ANY animal. If you love your pet why would you want to enforce anything upon them? Don’t you both deserve a method that respects the individual, be it the human or the animal, working to reinforce and bond the relationship more?
Nearly 30 years ago a very special lady called Linda Tellington-Jones noticed with her horses that as performance improved so did posture, then as posture & performance improved so did behaviour. Unwanted behaviour just started to diminish without actually having to directly address the behaviour problem. What Linda was doing with the TTouches was addressing the reason why the problem arose in the first place.
As a Tellington TTouch Practitioner I look to improve overall physical balance which in turn addresses the mental and emotional balance to influence undesirable behaviour in ANY animal. For example, when TTouches are combined with ground exercises for dogs it helps improve co-ordination & balance, thereby improving self confidence.

Testimonials
I could not believe the change in my dog in just a few weeks after the workshop. My dog used to mouth me and brushing him was a nightmare.
The agility is good now the mouthing/biting me is only if things have changed in his life like the new puppy we now have. I just make sure I do all the TTouches, especially around his mouth.
He now wants to be calm and I stay that way too now because I do the TTouches before we start the agility. Sometimes he is so excited I keeping things calm with TTouch and when he finishes he looks at me and rests his head on me and we have the best partnership all thanks to you Mark and TTouch.

Tellington TTouch at Millbrook RSPCA Centre Chobham
Millbrook is a large RSPCA centre situated near Chobham Surrey. It can house up to 70 dogs, 64 cats and over 100 small pets, including birds, ferrets, chinchillas, ducks chickens, as well as the odd pony and goat.
Sarah Marsh, a TTouch trainee, volunteered to help us rehabilitate eight Labradors that had been rescued from a barn containing over 180 dogs some four weeks before. Sarah then introduced us to Mark Simmons a fully qualified TTouch Companion Animal Practitioner.
Thus began the slow process of introducing the feather and brush to touch , followed by hand touches on the mouth, then chest, shoulders and ears. As the weeks went by, TTouches to the rear, body wrapping and walking outside using wands proceeded apace. Both Mark and Sarah noted the strides made by the dogs as well as the set-backs, inevitable when so many different volunteers and staff interacted with them. Groundwork began, and it was fascinating to watch the dog’s individual progress. For over seven weeks Sarah and Mark visited the centre, every week and spent hours working with our labs. They continued until the last lab was re-homed before Christmas 2004.
Volunteer dog walkers were invited to watch Mark and Sarah at work, and they ran a staff workshop on TTouch at the beginning of December.
Through my observations and work with these Labradors, I feel that their rehabilitation and successful rehoming would not have taken place so early or successfully without the intervention of Mark, Sarah and Tellington TTouch. Watching Mark & Sarah on that first day with the dogs and seeing how they sat and watched a human intelligently after some TT work was a revelation to me and I was already a TTouch convert with a little experience and exposure to it.
Fortunately for us at Millbrook, Mark and Sarah have continued their valuable work, branching out into goats and cats. Talking to them about dogs with difficulties, referring dogs to them, watching them at work, noting their observations and following on with their strategies has proved invaluable to me in my work. Increasingly staff members are asking for dogs to be helped by them, a sure sign of acceptance of the benefits of TTouch. While we humans benefit, the ultimate winners are the dogs.

Workshop Attendee
I just wanted to say thank you very much for the course I attended on Saturday 11th June, and the previous one earlier in the year. Both days were enjoyable and very informative. I have learnt so much which can only benefit my relationship with my dog, Custard.
It was well structured but friendly and tailored to suit the people attending. Please let me know about any further courses etc as I would be interested for the future. Many thanks again.

A Case Study
A small Collie X called Mollie.
This dog was afraid of all kinds of loud noises. Lorries, low planes, crow scarers many fields away, doors slamming in the wind, you name it and she would cower and shake for hours under her owners desk long after the noise had passed. After only three sessions with Mark, and with her owners doing TTouches on her in-between, Mollies behaviour has improved much to her owner’s delight. Now if Molly is surprised by a loud noise, she might still rush under the desk, but only for a minute before coming out as if nothing has happened. Another benefit of Mollies new found confidence was that she now eats her meals when they are put down, rather than picking at them all day.
Beano back to himself
Thank you so much for boarding Beano over the holidays. When he first met you, it was obvious that you had a real affinity for animals – he completely gave himself over to you which is not typical of him. He has returned relaxed and as far as I can tell, with renewed confidence. He had become a bit stressed with new dogs in the last year or so but his fortnight with you has restored his former friendly self.

Our dear Perec is a rescue dog, he is 11 years old, and we adore him. Every time we leave him in the house alone, he suffers, and every time he sees a suitcase he feels evidently bad. So, even if until now at least once a year we left him to a dog-sitter in order to do our vacation, we were always worried. In fact, he refused to eat the first days, sometimes week, and when back home he was always very stressed and we found him thinner.
Not this time! Perec stayed with Mark for two weeks this winter, and it was great. Mark sent us through Internet periodical photos with comments showing Perec and his new friend Beano, doing their activities. It was a pleasure to see them when we were so far! Then, once back home we found Perec in perfect shape, happy and even more relaxed and polite than his usual.

Midnight is sooo much happier and better! YAY!
I have an affectionate bunny back. He laid down with me and we did TTouch for about 1hr earlier. He loves it. Now, this you are going to find weird… he does it back to me… really! With his nose.
He was cuddled up so close to me that if he had been any closer he would have been in my clothes.
Midnight actually got rather annoyed when I stopped. I had to, I had been laying on the floor in the same position for an hour by then! I was starting to get cramp. He will also change sides to let me get to his other side. Right now he is very orientated on the right side… must be a reason for that I guess. Midnight and I thank you immeasurably.

About Mark
I found the Tellington TTouch back in 1997 when chatting to a friend about what she was up to next week. She told me of the course she was about to start working with animals. “Sounds great” I said, “what’s the number?” That call was to change my life. This was my first time talking with Sarah Fisher, Tellington TTouch’s UK co-ordinator in the UK. It is Sarah that is featured on the ITV programme Talking to Animals.
Much to my delight I have been doing it ever since, working with all manner of animals as one of a worldwide network of TTouch Practitioners.
I do not work with horses as this is a separate professional TTouch training. If you do have a horse that could do with the TTouch go to Sarah’s site via the links below.
As the Tellington TTouch is non-invasive it can’t hurt, but it may help. Practitioners do not diagnose and are not vets however over 30 years of astonishing successes around the world are testament to its effectiveness. Member UK TTouch Guild.
